  • HSCI 1001.91 meets 5/29,6/5,6/12,6/19,6/26,7/10,7/17,7/24,7/31,8/7 (classroom) 8/8,8/9 or 8/12,8/13 (clinicals). No class 7/3. Important information regarding class location, class requirements, and class materials needed to make your studies more successful is located at www.century.edu/CNAinformation. Additional fees required for this course. $10.25 Liability Insurance and $20.00 DHS Background Study. A $9.10 fingerprint fee paid directly to the fingerprinting agency is also required. A background study with no restrictions is required for you to be successful in the program and attend clinical experiences and get a job of Nursing Assisting. Description
This course introduces concepts of basic human needs, health/illness continuum, and basic nursing skills in long-term care, acute care, and/or home care environments. Skills are taught in a simulated laboratory setting utilizing demonstration and role-playing. Upon successful completion of classroom studies, students will participate in a minimum of 16 hours of supervised clinical experience in a long-term care facility. This course meets the state and federal requirements as detailed for educating the nursing assistant. Upon completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the examination for placement on the Minnesota Department of Health Nursing Assistant Registry. This course requires students to be 16 years of age or older and a MN Human Services Study with no restrictions. Prerequisite(s): Course placement into RDNG 0940 or higher.
