Description
This course develops your ability to understand a variety of written materials. You will learn to identify main ideas and supporting details in non-fiction, increase your reading rate and comprehension, and analyze features of fiction. Summary writing and how to make use of library resources are also included. In addition, you will increase your vocabulary using a variety of strategies. Prerequisite: Appropriate scores on the language proficiency test with background information, oral interview, and writing sample or ESOL 0032 with a grade of C or higher. Recommendation: ESOL 0031 with a grade of C or higher.
