  • Prerequisite: Admission to ELMSN program; NURS 414, NURS 409, NURS 646. Co-requisites: NURS 460, NURS 601, NURS 405. Note: This course meets at practicum sites in the community. This course is limited to students admitted to the Entry Level MSN program. This course combines reduced classroom time with significant online work. Intermediate computer/Internet skills required. For online learning and course access information go to Meeting dates in STPL: In class frontloading sessions Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 8-4 pm and Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 8-4 pm. Special clinical days Thursday, Sept. 26; Oct. 3, 10, 24.

Course Level

This course provides nursing students with experience in varied acute and community-based settings. Opportunities are provided for students to apply theoretical principles to the care of diverse populations consistent with the specialty theory courses. Proficiency with care management interventions and technologies will be achieved during this practicum. Student experiences will include the application of evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, delegation and supervision, and financial aspects of care. Interdisciplinary collaboration is emphasized.
