- Prerequisites: NURS 621 Primary Care Nursing I: Primary Prevention Across the Lifespan and NURS 621P Primary Care Nursing I Practicum and NURS 627 Applied Pharmacology for Advanced Nursing Practice and NURS 750 DNP Scholarship I. Note: This course combines reduced classroom time with significant online work. Intermediate computer/Internet skills required. Description
This clinical practicum course builds on the skills learned in N621 and facilitates application of content in N722 with a focus on clinical decision making skills. In a clinical setting serving clients across the lifespan, students focus on the advancement of differential diagnostic and critical thinking skills. Students integrate knowledge of family, culture, holism, community, and caring as they plan holistic care for clients in clinical settings. A minimum of 150 clinical hours with an approved preceptor(s) are required.
Competence Statement:
Knows select acute and chronic concepts well enough to provide primary care across the lifespan in the clinical setting in collaboration with a clinical preceptor.
