Minnesota Transfer Curriculum Goal
Goal 03 - Natural Science
  • Demonstrate understanding of scientific theories.
  • Formulate and test hypotheses by performing laboratory, simulation, or field experiments in at least two of the natural science disciplines. One of these experimental components should develop, in greater depth, students' laboratory experience in the collection of data, its statistical and graphical analysis, and an appreciation of its sources of error and uncertainty.
  • Communicate their experimental findings, analyses, and interpretations both orally and in writing.
  • Evaluate societal issues from a natural science perspective, ask questions about the evidence presented, and make informed judgments about science-related topics and policies.

Description
(3,3) General chemistry principles. Stoichiometry, solutions, bonding, quantum chemistry, thermochemistry, properties of solids, liquids and gases. Lab. There is no placement exam to get into CHEM 210. Students who have not had high school chemistry but meet the math requirements for CHEM 210 are strongly urged to register for CHEM 160. Must have completed CHEM 160 with a C or better; or an ACT math subscore of 22 or higher; or have completed MATH 072 with a C- or better; or a score of 87 or higher on the ACCUPLACER Intermediate Algebra exam; or a score of 50 or higher on the ACCUPLACER CLM exam (College Level Math). Higher-level acceptable MATH classes in lieu of MATH 072: MATH 112, 113, 115, 193, 196, 211, 212, 221, 222 and 325. 4 Cr. F, S, SUM. Goal 3.
